 The small town of Westburough, New York, seems just like any other place in the world: there's open space, nearby woods, everyone knows each other, and the local residents only need take a 45 minute drive to the nearby city to work and go to school. Of course students and adults could stay in Westburough and ignore the bustling metropolitan of Clinton if they want, but who would want that? Their own town's school has classes with graduate sizes of ten students, and famous means you're an honor student who got accepted into some big out-of-state college; in Clinton, the possibilities are endless.
However, Westburough has something that Clinton doesn't- call them what you will. Angels? Celestials? Messengers?.. Daevans? Demons? Tempters? It's all up to you, but either way, if you're lucky, or unlucky, enough to encounter one, you cannot tell another soul. Why? They're guarding yours.
Distinctly 'good' and 'evil', no one has any idea who sends them, or if they're really angels and demons as those who knows of their existence claim. Truthfully? They're not. They're almost as corruptible as humans, almost. So what do they do? Depending on what fate has decided, they either save you, or they damn you. The 'angels' as they're called, try and steer you on the right path and protect you. Their opposites protect you as well, but only so you can live and listen to them whispering over your shoulder to do the wrong thing, to steal, to lie, to harm others. Once you're stuck with one, you're stuck until they decide to leave, which could be until you've literally died and come back three times over.
But remember, hush hush! The world can't just know of these beings existing. There's only a select few who know they exist that aren't constantly followed by them. Say anything, and you disappear without a trace, forever a memory and a MISSING poster on the window of a convenience store..
